We all know that tires wear out with use. The more you drive, the faster they will wear out. Many tire manufacturers advertise 60,000 - 80,000 miles warranty. But in addition to the miles driven, your tires are also subject to the ravages of time. Tires have a limited lifespan, regardless of use. At Fremont Auto Center we recommend tire replacement every 6 years. This is a good rule-of-thumb to keep in mind as you plan maintenance for your vehicle. Not surprisingly, many tire manufacturers limit their standard tire warranty (against defects in how it was made – like sidewall failure or tread separation) to about 6 years. Typically, your vehicle will travel around 60,000 to 70,000 miles during 6 years, so as you can see, the mileage and age numbers converge. When you bring your vehicle to our Fremont auto care facility, we will perform a tire tread check and an age check as well. We also look for uneven tire wear, which can indicate alignment problems, or failure to rotate ... read more

As the weather gets cold, it’s time to get your vehicle ready for winter driving. At Fremont Auto Center we recommend having a battery check, heating and defrosting system check, tire inspection and rotation, as well as brake system inspection, lights check, and windshield wipers check. With the coming rains, tires become a safety item. Worn out tires increase probability of hydroplaning and loss of control over the vehicle. Bald tires also increase braking distance and probability of a spinout. At Fremont Auto Center we can inspect your tires and will let you know if we see any cause for concern. If we do, we can provide replacement tire(s) if needed. Battery check is also highly recommended – cold weather makes car batteries less effective, so a battery that worked fine in the summer might not be able to hold the charge in cold weather, potentially leaving you stranded. We can verify that the battery can hold sufficient charge to provide the electrical energy to start y ... read more

Winter is upon us, and with it rains and slippery driving conditions. We recommend tire check and tire rotation to make sure your vehicle has the right traction under wet driving conditions. Tire rotation allows tires to wear evenly, which extends tire life and saves you money. Tire rotation also improves control of the vehicle – particularly important under wet driving conditions. Tire tread depth check ensures that tires have enough tread depth to properly evacuate water and minimize the chance of spinouts and hydroplaning. At our Fremont auto care facility we can perform both tire rotation and tire tread check during the same visit. We will also check your tires for tire rot, and adjust air pressure to manufacturer specifications. These simple procedures will go a long way to keep your vehicle from having tire related issues this winter. And if you know your vehicle's tires need replacement, you can ask our friendly service advisors and they will provide you with multip ... read more
